Old Testament:

Prophet Daniel

Daniel is one of the four major prophets in the Old Testament, along with Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel.   He was a celebrated Jewish scholar and master interpreter of dreams who was exiled to Babylon after the destruction of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem.  He is famous for successfully interpreting the proverbial “writing on the wall” and miraculously surviving the lions’ den.  Just as the God of Israel saved Daniel and his friends from their enemies, so God would save all of Israel from their oppressors.
