INCARNATION RC Glendale California – Pastoral Letter Against Racism
Holy Scripture boldly proclaims, “See what love the Father has bestowed on us that we may be called the children of God. Yet so we are” (1 Jn 3:1).
As Catholic Christians, we have a long tradition of seeking social justice, and supporting the common good and well-being of all, especially the poor and vulnerable. We are obligated to pursue justice and peace, regardless of race, politics, or economic status. When examining racism in the U.S., we have an obligation to not only look within ourselves, but also question and scrutinize the institutions that reinforce and embed racist beliefs throughout society. We, as members of the Incarnation Parish Community, firmly stand against racism. Authentic conversation can be difficult but approaching it with an open heart and a willingness to listen is the key to honoring God’s plan for us. We ask you to read the Bishops’ document ( Open Wide Our Hearts: The Enduring Call to Love – A Pastoral Letter Against Racism) using the link below and encourage you to discuss amongst your family and groups.
